What is moving in Indian FMCG exports this year
Demand signals we see across the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia and the diaspora markets of Europe.
Three shifts stand out in current buyer enquiries. First, private label is no longer confined to large chains: mid sized distributors now want their own brand on spices, atta and ready mixes to protect margin. Second, smaller retail packs are winning shelf space as households buy more frequently. Third, buyers are asking for documentation up front rather than at shipment, especially laboratory reports and allergen declarations.
Category wise, whole and blended spices, chakki fresh atta, basmati and non basmati rice, pulses, ready to eat snacks and instant beverage mixes continue to lead. Household and personal care lines are growing fastest in West Africa, where mixed containers help distributors test several categories at once.
For new buyers, the practical route remains the same: start with a mixed LCL or a single 20 foot container, prove the movement, then move to repeat FCL volumes with a fixed packing specification.
