How to Launch Your Own FMCG Brand with Private Label
From concept to first container, a practical timeline for own-brand grocery ranges.
Private label lets a distributor or retailer own the customer relationship instead of reselling someone else's brand. The process is more approachable than most buyers expect.
Begin with a short range - four to six SKUs that already sell well in your market. Confirm pack sizes and price points before design work starts.
Packaging design and compliance labelling usually take two to three weeks. Your labels must carry the ingredient list, nutrition panel, allergen statement and importer details in the language your market requires.
Production follows approval of a physical sample. Allow 30 to 45 days from artwork sign-off to container loading for a first order, and less for repeats once the packaging is in stock.
